Equality-indicator state for one point, holding the expansion as one buffer.

A shared column store keeps this shape. Its expansion is read in the same chunks as the columns beside it.

A fused read pass sums the halves during its own traversal. Only the bookkeeping is then owed, so the stale tail is dropped.
